Back to when my love (or should I say lust…ah!) began…

Years ago, I stumbled across a lone pink lustreware teacup and saucer set at a local antique store. After (way) over-paying for this single set, I asked the store owner if she knew anything about this newly found, intriguing love of mine. To my dismay, she told me it was called “Lustreware” and our conversation soon ended. However, my search did not stop there…I needed to know more.

Before I knew it, I had a collection that was growing quickly. Plates, saucers, pitchers, you name it. I NEVER could turn it down. I once came across another Lustreware lover’s full (LARGE) collection at an estate sale and took home as much as my broke college self could afford. (I still regret not bargaining for it all!) Fate was calling!

Fast forward, I took a trip to New York and spent my days gawking at the amazingly fabulous and amazingly unaffordable collection at the KRB NYC showroom (a longtime inspiration of mine). This only verified my love and obsession. An 1800’s full lustreware collection is even featured at the MET. I felt like I had stuck GOLD with my growing collection at home. (oh and ah at the MET’s collection, here!)

Over the years, my collection has continued to grow, and out-grow, my space. Don’t get it twisted — I still keep several of the pieces I come across for myself, but to your benefit I have (after much deliberation) ripped the bandaid off and decided to share some of my favorite treasures with my favorite audience. Before you’re surprised by my generosity, remember this also still gives me an excuse to take home these treasures whenever I come across them…my husband has never been happier!

xx,
